Dear Colleagues,

On behalf  of the 50,000 members of the International Society for Infectious Diseases and health care members that also subscribe to ProMed Mail, our vast international surveillance system for Emerging Pathogens, welcome to the 15th International Congress on Infectious diseases in Bangkok. ISID is delighted to host this meeting together with our collaborators from the Infectious Diseases Association of Thailand.

ISID is a vibrant society, continually growing its membership and continually gaining in international visibility. Much of our success is linked to an unequivocal commitment to developing countries and to our key mission: Education. Both commitments distinguish us from other national and international societies focusing on the challenges of infectious diseases in this era where the world is more connected than ever.

Bangkok is a perfect location for the 15th ICID. Bangkok is the cosmopolitan city of South East Asia: it is magical and benefits from both a rich culture and the traditions of its people. The Convention Center and surrounding hotels are modern, comfortable and centrally located. I am excited that you have joined us to share an outstanding program with international leaders providing plenary talks, experts from around the world in numerous and exciting symposia and more than 900 oral or poster presentations.

Please introduce yourself to members and delegates alike, thus continuing to create a vital network of knowledge that we aim to develop, allowing future health collaborations at local and international levels. This is one of the key benefit of the congress.
