Abstract: |
Background: The objective of this study was to evaluate the cross-reaction of six specific B-cell epitope peptides with sera from leprosy patients. These peptides were initially selected by in-silico method and synthesized for serodiagnosis of tuberculosis. Methods: In this study, twenty sera from leprosy patients, twenty sera from pulmonary tuberculosis and ten sera from healthy subjects were tested using an indirect ELISA peptide based method. Results: Among these six synthetic peptides, three showed high antibody reactivity with leprosy. Surprisingly, antibody responses against these three peptides were higher with leprosy sera than tuberculosis sera. Conclusion: These three peptides can be used in immunochromatographic test for the early diagnosis of leprosy.
