Abstract
We are excited to launch Volume 19 (2025), a milestone year marking the 50th anniversary of the Deep Foundations Institute’s legacy and the remarkable progress within the foundations community. This commemorative volume features a series of special contributions by DFI legends, award recipients, and authors who have significantly advanced pile design, testing, and foundation construction. Our first issue is dedicated entirely to Dr. Bengt H. Fellenius—one of DFI’s founding members—the only founding father still living—whose work continues to shape and inspire the deep foundations field. It is called the “revisiting series”, in which Dr. Fellenius revisits and re-analyses a series of masterpiece publications that helped shape pile testing, pile analysis, and design and the way we analyze deep foundations under axial loading.
