Database of Load Transfer Responses from Static Loading Tests on Instrumented Piles with and without Residual Load Correction
Article Type: Research Paper
Blanchard, Johnathan, et. al.,
This data paper summarizes the development of a database of 68 static loading tests on instrumented driven piles compiled from the literature to investigate axial load transfer for a variety of applications. Pile head load-displacement curves and pile load distributions, obtained from publications, were interpreted to determine the corresponding load transfer responses in the form of side (t-z) and toe bearing (q-z) resistance. The pile load transfer database includes steel pipe, steel H, concrete filled steel pipe, concrete square, concrete cylinder, and concrete H piles. The residual load for each pile was estimated and used to correct the load transfer distribution for the influence of residual load on the estimated true load transfer response. Each pile in the database is accompanied by the source standard penetration test (SPT) and/or cone penetration test (CPT) results for the surrounding soils (where available), and general pile and site information for each pile. The database includes the pile head load and displacement data and the load distribution for each load increment applied during the static loading test, the load-transfer response for each strain gauge depth, the estimated residual load distribution, and the residual load corrected load distribution response for each strain gauge depth and for each pile. The database was published to the DesignSafe-CI as PRJ-4809 and is freely-accessible for use by the profession (https://doi.org/10.17603/ds2-bez6-4812).
