Conference Summary

A unique program is planned for the Helical Piles-Tiebacks-Anchors Tradeshow and Educational Seminar organized by DFI and HPW (Helical Pile World), April 27-28, 2022, at the National Agriculture Center and Hall of Fame in Bonner Springs, Kansas.

The event includes a structured indoor technical education program each morning followed by an outdoor equipment exhibition and live installation and testing demonstrations that highlight the products, resources and expertise used to design, install and test helical pile and anchor elements for structural support and earth retention applications. The event also includes general exhibits featuring helical pile and anchor manufacturers and distributors, installation contractors and equipment manufacturers, pile testing service companies, and engineering service companies.

Indoor Program

The indoor technical educational program comprises presentations by helical pile experts on design, codes, QC/QA processes and innovations.

Outdoor Program

In the afternoons on both days, attendees will circulate through outdoor stations including a load test area and equipment exhibits presented by leading manufacturers and suppliers. At each station, industry experts will present information on all aspects of helical pile installation and testing, new applications and innovations for helical pile use and construction.

Helical Pile Prediction Competition

Two (2) Helical Piles will be installed prior to the event. The Helical Piles will have two different helix configurations; i.e. different size bearing plates. The Piles will be installed to two different depths based on the soil boring logs provided by Terracon. The Geotechnical Report will be provided to the attendees prior to the event, as well as the helical pile helix configuration and depths. The competition is to predict the installation torque at the selected depths of installation. Winners will be selected on closest torque prediction for each helical pile and depth.

Contractors, engineers, building officials, utility and transportation professionals, civil engineering professors and students are encouraged to attend. Helical pile and anchor manufacturers and distributors, installation contractors and equipment manufacturers, pile testing service companies, and engineering service companies are encouraged to exhibit and showcase their services and products. Bonner Springs is a short distance from Kansas City, Missouri.
