The QUEST Honors Program includes undergraduate students at the University of Maryland from three colleges: the Robert H. Smith School of Business, the A. James Clark School of Engineering, and the College of Computer, Mathematical and Natural Sciences. QUEST students take three courses in which they learn quality management, process improvement, and system design. We developed eight learning outcomes and, for each outcome, four elements for assessment. The learning outcomes were mapped to the courses in the program, and assessments and rubrics were developed to measure every element. Faculty, staff, corporate partners, program alumni, and current students participated in the assessment process. This paper presents our rubrics, describes how these outcomes and elements were assessed, presents the results of these assessments, and discusses the lessons learned from this process. |
